Excellent product by Sam Smith, I ordered this item from somewhere else, so I avoided all the problems that the reviewer previous experience. Apart from this, now I've had this product for 2 weeks and it was great work. The setup took a few tries to find the drive, but when minor bumps in the road that has worked well and exactly as advertised. Just connect to my existing external USB drive was very easy. Speed upload / download is very quick. WebAccess works great as well. My only complaint is that the automatic mode, the drive is turned off due to inactivity (as it should), you can not boot the new hard drive WebAccess. It can be reactivated only by the home network. So if you want to use WebAccess occasionally, the device must be switched on all the time and energy wastage. A small problem in the grand scheme of things themselves. 56 of 61 people found the following review helpful Almost promises of Mr Sousa products on almost everything I had expected from the description. An important piece that is not clear on the specifications that the external USB hard drive must be formatted to XFS, to read the user in a position / write. All Legacy USB hard drive, you may have is probably already formatted to NTFS or FAT32. Once installed on the LinkStation's USB port, you can read but not write to it. There are two major effects on them: First you have to spend a lot of time trying to ensure the original content of the link station device, format it to XFS, and spend a lot of time again to make the copy back data to make it .. . and you can not install, do it yourself. You need to copy from a networked PC to cause an intense and unnecessary traffic to do. Took me two whole days to do this process in a 300GB hard drive. Second: After the format, you can not remove read the USB drive and you about it in another machine with Vista or XP. Only Linux / Unix operating system would be able to read data from there just a trap to occur during installation, a bug that requests for buffalo may not be reproduced, and therefore can not solve the problem, but is connected by dozens users in their FAQ blog, has blocked my administrator password. I could not enter the username admin and of course could not, t change anything in the configuration. Only a couple of days, I managed to find a solution to a "refresh" on firmaware. Their blog is the step by step for her. I hope the same does not happen again. Besides this, the alarm works fine (but you need to use their NAS Navigator application on each client to make the unit woke up after a standby). The driver is still fast enough to allow DVDs to be stored on a DVD and played on my laptop. In addition, the Media Server feature and it works fine in iTunes on the network can create a library based on it. I may end up with a USB port as a backup of sensitive data on the LinkStation, and not as a unit of storage (this is the recommendation from the company at least) 22 of 22 people found this review helpful. Excellent versatile NAS By Mark bought a home and was told that doing an excellent job, I bought one for my small office as well. For home, I needed a NAS to store media on an always on device to transfer to the PS3 and Xbox 360. This Buffalo device does very well, with some starting in each of these two devices DLNA. Only the "Media Server" from the very simple to use web based administration tool and as a whole. Other features: access to the web is a very simple page access (buffalonas.com), combined with comprehensive, yet easy to use user management. Bittorrent also functions as easy and convenient it is so, let's use even if you do not know by now what he does. It works while the computer is off - of course, and is quiet - really quiet, because this machine is so quiet, even when opening files not 5 stars because: really stupid - the PS3 photos are selected.
