Door in the front folds down and you can access the two removable drive bays. Make sure you read the PDF manaual on the included disk before installing. It will save you a lot of hassle as the quickstart quide is near worthless. Not mentioned in either guide or manaual is the removable drive bracket has a spacer you need to remove in order to install your drives. This took me a minute to figure out. The PDF on the disk is also the only place where it lists your username, password, and default IP which you need. Took a while to figure out how to configure windows 7 to see the valkyrie. Follow the instructions as per the pdf manaual and then in Win 7 under advanced sharing settings make sure to turn off public folder sharing, turn off password protect sharing, turn off use user account and passwords to connect to other computers. The way win 7 is set up by default does not work. Make sure the valkyrie is using the same workgroup name as the rest of your network (done through valkyrie net tool - access via web). I had some trouble getting raid 1 configured, I finally formatted both drives at the same time through the web utility and it all of a sudden worked, where as formatting them one at a time and it did not seem to work. Not sure if this was the fix but formatting both drives at the same time certainly is faster. Just start one drive formattting and then imediately start the 2nd drive formatting. All of a sudden my raid 1 valkrie was up and running properly. I didn't try every combination but these setting worked for me. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Good hardware but somewhat limited support By oi_jo I bought this NAS a few weeks ago. The hardware is fine so far. But I am really disappointed by the level of support Patriot has put behind it -- practically none. The Patriot tech forum for this product is pretty much deserted by Patriot (Google and you will find it). There are only users asking questions and complaining, trying to bring attention to someone from Patriot, but nobody answers the call. Before I bought it, I thought a new firmware release was due end of March. But it didn't happen and there is no information on when it will finally arrive. I wished I had waitedand observed the zero activity level from Patriot before I ordered the product. I thought this is a new product and Patriot will be actively supporting it like other notable NAS vendors. But it looks like Patriot might be planning to take the cash and let the product die off. [See update below] Update: July 2010 1. Thanks to some expert user(s)on the support forum. The device was hacked and a workaround was provide for telnet with root access. That opened the door for customization (tweaking). 2. It was reported at the forum that there was a new firmware release available as of 7/2/2010. I didn't test it -- will wait for more user feedback before upgrading. But this does show that Partiot is continuing the support of this product so far. 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Best NAS in the low cost category By Jayandan B. Pazhayidathu I was looking for a NAS for almost 6 months. Read about many including Linksys, DLink 323 etc. I was looking for one which is less that $200, which can hold upto 4TB, 2 Bay, with Raid 1. Finally I came to know about Patriot Valkrye. Here is my first review Advantages 1. Solid build 2. Hard drive installation is easy 3. Setup is very easy 4. Speed and performance is same as any other in that category 5. ITunes server, FTP etc. Disadvantages 1. Never follow quick installation guide, use the full installation guide come in the CD or website. Follow line by line. 2. Slow performance (this is same as any other NAS in the category) 3. To add the hard drive, no instruction available. You need to remove the black spacer and use
