Installation is super easy with both. Connect your TV or receiver via an HDMI cable, an external hard drive (not included) and go through the menus to configure your video and audio option. You can also use this with a wired network, and Western Digial has a number of wireless USB adapters that require certified a little more knowledge about configuration. The documentation of the two companies could be much better, so I call it a draw. The WDTV Live is a bit slow to start, but the changes are much much faster than the Zinwell directory. I suspect that the indices of WD and cache directories on the external drives, while reading the Zinwell is every time. The speed difference is absolutely enormous. Basically, performance-wise Zinwell feels really, really doggy for me. The Advantage Live WDTV WD has an interface much cleaner and more beautiful than the ugly menu above to Zinwell / Linux / as / files / system /. I can live with the bad, as long as it works, but in 2011 I should not do. Advantage WDTV Live. Live WDTV outputs 5.1-audio in DTS format via HDMI, toslink or coaxial, the first bits Zinwell outputs or stereo over HDMI. If the receiver also supports DTS WDTV advantage. The Zinwell remote is a bit "better, but much larger. Both media players to work seamlessly with Harmony remotes. Zinwell advantage. Both plays almost all popular audio and video format or from your external hard drive or on a wired network. But the battle want to play high-definition video over a network connection. I think that high-definition vidio from an external hard drive works very well with Live WDTV, but could never get Zinwell something out, but the stereo sound without breaking. Advantage WDTV Live. The Zinwell promises for full access to DVD / BD menu, but I never could get the menus to work and find the button a separate audio selection to be stubborn with the Western Digital that you need to get used to using the "Options" button to to access audio and subtitle choices but it works. WDTV Live slight edge. Bottom line network media player market is still immature, with many new products coming down the pike, but for now consider the Zinwell a no-go for my needs. 25 of 29 people found this review useful. Great little device from the rain storm I really Zinwell unit (not the Brite-view or the viewsonic which look exactly the same). Suitable for: Home Video HD (havent run into a file that will not even play)-Plays DVD image files w / o burning files to DVD karaoke (he has a left / right shift key channel) image display with background music (you choose the music to play) Benefits: -2 USB ports that work with hard disks (I just tried NTFS) and USB flash drives (I just tried FAT16, FAT32, NTFS), many codec (rmvb , avi, mkv, iso, vob extensions all works well)-1080p output bitstream both DTS and Dolby Digital sound (DTS ES DD EX 61 and both work fine to decode, I have no use for the audio format bit rate- test all) network capacity (never used) Cons: crashes when changing -video/audio subtitles or audio tracks in a video file to recover, simply one second to rewind after playing, it will play without problems until the end of file. I am connected to cable, and see my network but do not register on my external hard drive to connect to and play back DVD image files very good, if not the blu-ray. They play, but it seems too much information for her, for after a few minutes, crackling sound and then stops. The movie plays but no sound. If you pause, you can make the sound again for a few seconds, but then does it again. If only.
