Never had any of the issues that i am reading about. Watched hundreds of movies on it. Added 500GB HDD and bluray drive. Got it with IRK-200 and i am using it CAT5 cable so no issues with networking. I will get 2 more for presents to my family since the firmware is already mature enough. And PCH are kind a keeping it updated. 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Surprised at the negatives By Slims I have had this unit for about 4 weeks now. I am surprised at the negative feedback. It has been rock solid for me. I came from many years of using a media pc and I was ready for a turn key solution. I am a tech guy but I am pretty sure my wife could have plugged this in and figure out how to play my movies over a network share. The unit itself is big compared the other media players. Its about the size of a settop box. Has more outputs than the other units although most will stick w/ hdmi. Remote ok. I have the unit in a cabinet so I like it being rf, but if you have a universal remote you might be disappointed. There is also an iphone app you can use as a remote and has nice features to search and play shoutcast and youtube videos. I would rate this 5 stars but a couple of things I don't like. gripe 1: It will not play some old home movies I have. I get a/v sync problems and video is must faster than is should be. Not fixed in the latest firmware. I haven't looked into this much maybe a solution don't know. gripe 2: No native netflix support. I have seen the interfaces on two other media players and they suck but at least they are there. Apparently you can get this working using playon, but again I don't see this as turn key. gripe 3: interface lacking. coming from a media pc the interface navigation is ok, but lacks eye candy gripe 4: No native support for imdb and movie cover art descriptions. You can set this up using yamj. Google it, but again not turn key. For sure it definitely more expensive than the other units. Hardware is more robust and it supports more video formats from what I have read. Most of the other units are based of the same chipset (I think broadcom) so if you have a problem with one you will likely have a problem with the other. 21 of 30 people found the following review helpful. Bug Bug Bug. Read Forums for Device Problems B4 Buying, Please! By DJ Clark The box is riddled with bugs! Read the forums at NMT(NMT forum's moderators say that the forums are not a part of Syabas even though Syabas' website directs you there on their support page). Some examples of flaws to be noted: Gigbit Ethernet: Does not Work; playback of mkv's - audio is out of sync with video; Issues with all formats of HD video content (Buffering space inadequate); The LCD screen and the input boxes being hard to read from 6 ft away on a 42" LCD TV; Hangs and crash inexplicably. Read on for yourselves before buying. Do not let me be your only source of info. This Device is REALLY hands on! Please note, the 50% Super versus 50% negative reviews on here is due to the NMT forums attempt to get users here to promote this product. Read all the reviews and do your homework. If you do not, you may be spending money to wait for the next firmware update like the rest of us owners! See all 43 customer reviews...
