Powell I'd been looking for something to convert many of my LPs to ditigal formats. The iRecord is the first that makes the job simple, easy and convenient. No sound board, no having to drag the computer around the house. Just plug the iRecord into your audio set-up and play your records on the phonograph. I use a datastick for transfer to my computer and, ultimately, to my iPod via iTunes. (You can record directly to an iPod, but the interface with iTunes becomes more complicated.) The folks behind the iRecord are responsive and helpful with a less than 24-hour turnaround to my questions. All in all, a great experience. (Why 4 rather 5 stars? Just that recording LPs is not as simple as CDs and DVDs. I did have to communicate with the company, but got prompt, accurate support.) 24 of 28 people found the following review helpful. irecord By Hr Block Client I think the irecord is great, although, they should let you know that any DVD with anti-piracy restrictions can only be uploaded directly to your ipod. They will not transfer to flash drives or external hard drives. I bought the irecord to create an extensive mp4 video collection. This is going to be really tough to accomplish unless they come out with a 1000GB ipod. The discription of the irecord is misleading, at best, hence the 2 stars. I would have never spent the $199.99 had I known this before. Also your external hard drive has to be in fat-32 format. I bought three of them before I found one that I could format to fat-32. Many store reps. have told me that they don't even make fat-32 hard drives anymore. They do. Use a Black Passport 80GB, 120GB, 160GB external hard drive. Other than that, I would have to say that their tech. support team has been wonderful. That is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1. The irecord also gets really hot after about 30 minutes of use. I always allow time for it to cool down, but I am expecting this will be my next issue. I was able to put music from old LPs, and 45s into my IPod as well as a bunch of movies. The on-line directions could be more clear but IT WORKS! I suggest you put everything into your computer using a flash drive first, import to ITunes and THEN sync your IPod or ITouch. If you put movies and music directly into your IPod, it gets erased the next time you sync. Well worth the $$$$$$$. See all 15 customer reviews...
